
Opening ceremony of CCCN Macau and
“Cor Ad Cor Loquitur” Group Exhibition
The grand opening of the art and cultural centre of the Macao Catholic Diocese, CCCN Macau, was hosted on 4th December,2021. The opening ceremony of “Cor Ad Cor Loquitur” Group Exhibition was held in celebration of the grand occasion.
CCCN Macau used to be the mansion of an overseas Chinese businessman which was built in 1926, and was loaned to Yuet Wah College in early 1940s. In 2020, His Excellency Bishop Stephen Lee Bun Sang of Macau Diocese decided to assign the historic building as the location of Associação Diocesana das Artes Performativas e Culturais de Macau (ADAPEC) and renamed to “Centro de Cultura e Artes Performativas Cardeal Newman de Macau”. By adopting St. John Henry Newman’s spirit as the motto, CCCN Macau will hold various arts and cultural exchange to enhance interaction within the community.

Whispers (Macau Elderly Women’s Oral History)
“Whispers” is about Yuen-yi Lo retrieving her mother’s collection of short stories as axis. Lo will share about her original desire and journey to writing. Besides, Lo believe that elderly women’s oral history are not only their own bed-time stories, but also a testimony of history.

Yuen-yi Lo
Yuen-yi Lo is an artist, writer, and lecturer. Trained in the fields of Communication Design and Fine Arts respectively in Hong Kong, Italy and United Kingdom, her creative work concerns scripto-visual communication. She has contributed writings in the areas of art and culture, feminism and oral history. She is currently teaching in the Faculty of Education, University of Macau.

Cardinal Newman: Cor Ad Cor Loquitur, Reflecting of Quest and Zest
At the “Golden age” of the British empire, Oxford was the core to Anglican Church and Academic town. However, the curate of St. Clement’s Church was conditionally converted to Catholicism. Newman’s conversion resulted in great response in the European Continent. Let’s come across the reflecting of quest, zest and life of St. John Henry Newman (1801-1890).

Write a poem, paint a painting
Imagination of kids are without boundaries, and are curious about the surroundings. Their deeds and wordings are always poetic and full of meaning. Parents and children can interact through words or painting, this can explore children’s imagination and sensitiveness towards poetry.
The workshop begins with appreciation of poetry, and through the making use of collage to collaborate visual artwork.
