Echoes of Heart
Ivan Leong Wai Chun Photographic Exhibition

Celebrating the 5th anniversary of CCCN Macau Series

On the 5th anniversary of Cardinal Newman Centre for Culture and Arts Performance of Macau (also known as CCCN Macau), we have cordially invited Mr. Leong Wai Chun Ivan to showcase his photographic works through years. Ivan switches from a designer to a photojournalist, from a photography enthusiast to the development of an indigenous photographic aesthetic; from aesthetic photography to the capture of existential value of every entity. Ivan has a keen sense to leave a trail of the exquisite yet almost instantaneous moment. Ivan is widely known as a Catholic Photographer, of whom can be spotted during Feast Days and Solemnities of the Macao Catholic Diocese. Furthermore, Leong is the only local photographer permitted to record the Catholic liturgy and the accompanying photographer to the Delegation of the Macao Catholic Diocese. The dual identity holds equal weight for Ivan, as it marks a milestone that changes his later life. However, these two identities are somewhat difficult to define in certain extend. So, let us explore through the transitions within Ivan’s dual identity.

Every photo reveals the connection between the photographer and the entity. Leong observes the genuine emotions keenly, showcasing the skills and thorough analysis about the state of the entity in that particular moment. Ms. Agnes Wong Kai Yiu, Director of CCCN Macau highly appreciates the way he works capture and highlight the beautiful bonding between people and God, people and people, and people and objects that we often overlook.

The constant influx of information overwhelm us, leading to fatigue and even numbness towards people and things. Human emotions are abundant, whereof  fostering our creativity, understanding, ethics, morality, and empathy. These qualities have a profound impact on individuals and the society. The Exhibition aims to awaken everyone to recognize the genuine truth, integrity, and  allurement through the unique perspective of photographer, Mr. Leong Wai Chun Ivan.
